I sometimes get my inspiration from NZ painters. Saw these two Mallards in an old Gum tree and to me it looked just like a Raymond Ching Water Colour. I had to take it.

Awsome Delboy!!
They are both great shots.
I very rarely get to catch something like this....tromping through the woods with two kids--they generally scare up any wildlife!!

Great shots Delboy! I esp. love the 2nd for the composition you have with the upper duck looking in the opposite direction as the lower one. Very cool.
Hi Delboy,
I can see what you mean by inspiration by painters.... I too think it is an artistic view with the light blues of the reflecting water, the nice texture of the tree trunk, and the red and greed reeds on the sides.
Nice detail on both ducks also.
To me they are both beautiful "rustic" natural shots. Love both of them.

Good chance to get "in flight" shots :)

Hi Delboy, love them both for the subtle colours, strong line, and natural setting, and yes...the Ching like style...they would adapt well as paintings.
Close up work on birds can look great with all the fine detail...but here you have them in context and you have a good balance that is pleasing to the eye. The subtle colours do work well with the composition and I think if you turned up the saturation you would lose the feel of the shot.
Excellent Delboy

Delboy,
These are fantastic. There is almost a sepia effect in the background with the color of the birds subtle enough to stand out! Greta work!
