I took these shots at Yarrawonga in Victoria. There were thousands upon thousands of these Corellas.
Thanks for looking. CC welcome.

Hi Kaye. I love these new pics you posted up. I really like the open wing span on the first one. The side view of the second is equally appealing. I like the third one because the feathers sticking up on the top of the bird's head was unique too.

I really like how it was such a clear blue sky on all of these. Very nice! Nothing to distract the eye.

I do have to say that #1 is my favorite. I really like how you were able to apply the rule of thirds here so well. I do like the balance this photo gives due to the ROT and teh open wings of the Corella. Very nice shots!

Magnificent shots, Kaye. I love the contrast of the Corella against that blue sky, they compliment each other quite well. I think I'm going to pick #1 as my favorite. I love the composition, love the clarity of the shot and the way the light hits the wing span. Just beautiful.

Agreed with Eddie and Yuni, my fav also #1, great shots Kaye. Love the colours, the lighting and the clarity of the bird, just awesome.

Very nice series, Kaye. Number 1 is your best of the three. While the others show good detail, the "rear" angle isn't flattering to the overall bird and draws attention away from the other end. Much the same way blown highlights on a darker background drawn your focus like a magnet. The dark areas do the same in reverse. The detail is very good on all as is the general composition. The camera handled the whites very well on two of the three.

BTW, I stink at BIF shots! My hat's off to ya! :)

Many thanks Yuni for viewing these and your kind comments. I must agree with you that No. 1 is also my favourite. I took these whilst away a couple of weeks ago and we were blessed with beautiful rich blue skies.
I did crop these a little as my lens being a 18-105mm does not have enough zoom!

I really appreciate your feedback thank you Eddie. I took these mid afternoon which gave me the nice rich blue skies and the sun was in a good position to sort of "glow" through the wings.

I took numerous shots of these Corellas on continuous mode at 3 shots per second.
BTW, I just remembered to add my EXIF data in my first post.

Thanks so much Tenny for your kind remarks. I'm glad I had the shutter set to 1/1000.

Thanks very much Gary for viewing and for your thoughts on these.
I must agree with you that the rear angle is not the best, but I guess we don't always get a choice with BIFs!! Especially being new to this.
The third shot was taken in slightly different direction, and being late afternoon has caught more of the brighter sunlight.

BTW your BIF shots are great, as are the rest!

Sandra, thanks for looking and for your comment. I must try some more soon.

How did i miss this posting? I love these! His face and head looks like a lovebird to me. In AZ we have peach faced lovebirds that are green and, well, peach! But they have similar faces as your Corrella. It is so hard to catch a BIF so this is really good!

Hi kaye

I like them all, but#1does it for me. I like the clarity, and the detail in the stretched out wings. Not easy to do when they are flying around. Looks like you have got a nice piece of glass there and you are beginning to use it to its full advantage. That did'nt take long.

Regards

Delboy.

Thanks very much Marianne. I was quite pleased with my first try, but could do with a lens with more zoom. I love the peach faced lovebirds, but I think the Corella is a member of the Cockatoo family. (Similar in size also).

Thanks for taking a look Delboy and for your comments. It seems that No. 1 is by far the favourite. Mine also. I am happy with the 18-105mmVR but for these shots would prefer more zoom as I said above, as I had to crop these shots.

Kaye, these are great, particularly number 1, the composition, contrast between the white and blue and the "glow" through the wings are all fantastic. Well done!

Ciara, thank you so much for your comments. We had beautiful weather on our week away and magnificent blue skies.
The glow through the wings was just lucky timing with shoot direction and time of day I think working on my side.
