neat how the colour is so different between the two cameras. I like the colour in the first but the detail in the second. The second seems to have a bit of green cast.
Very interesting Gary. I think if we were to often take the same shots with 2 different cameras, we would be surprised with the differences. My D90 has a red cast to it.
Same as Bambe, I like the colour in the first and the detail in the second. When you enlarge both shots, does No. 2 have more noise?
Both lovely shots BTW.

gary,
They are both great shots. I suspect the first is truer in the color, but I just love the expression and fat cheeks on the #2 shot!

Thanks, everyone. Actually, the true color was a cross of them both but closer to #2. The reason there is more noise is the way the HS-20 handles the jpg. It's a little difficult to explain the EXR system but the long & short of it is that it "binds" the pixels in some way. Here's a place that will explain it much better. Bear in mind, this site is referring to a CCD sensor with EXR. The HS-20 has a BSI-CMOS sensor. I *think* the principle is relatively the same, though.

Woah - such difference in colour, were the white balance settings the same for both shots?

Both set to "Cloudy", Jon. The only thing that I can thing of to explain the difference is 1. the jpg engine is different in each 2. A different angle 3. Slightly different lighting, as the sun was popping in and out.
