My submissions for assignment 4 were missing exif files. Not quite sure what that is or how I can prevent it from happening again, any ideas? I usually import my photos with Lightroom (which is fairly new to me) and use Photoshop for sizing. I saved the photos for web and devices and as jpegs... is this where I went wrong? I have given the lesson another go because of this. Please cc. Thanks!!

Hello I am also new to light room your exif data is the information the come's off your camera from the photo. IE: the time and date photo was taken how it was taken by that I mean camera Nikon xxx Canon xxxx or what ever you might have it also contains information like your ISO,F number shutter speed used when you open your photo in light room. Your image in light room the first editing part you have all the tools scroll down to the bottom of that page you will see metadata next to there you will see a little button it should say exif under there should be the exif data have a look and the data should be there. I don't have Photoshop I did have the download trial version no point me getting it as I have paint shop photo pro well Photoshop elements is about the same as my program. By memory when you have photo open you click on file the drop down box thing will drop down look towards the page I can't remember what it say's excatly but you will see something like information click on that its towards the end of the drop down list a new box will open along the top it gives you some options go along you will see something camera information something like that by memory any way this gives you all the information needed from the photo even if tells you if you used the flash or not quiet intrusting I think. I have paintshop photo pro x3 and if I right click on the photo I get a drop down box that says information that is where I find the information in my program and I am sure more will be along with more information than I have been able to give you good luck

First, EXIF is not an extra file, EXIF is basically information embedded in the JPG files of your photos that discusses things like camera manufacturer, camera settings, date and time taken, and so on.

In Lightroom 3 and 4 at least you can remove most of the EXIF when exporting to JPG by clicking on FILE > EXPORT and look for a section called METADATA. In V.3 of LR you had a checkbox to select or deselect, depending on what you wanted to do. in LR 4 you have a drop down box to select what you want all exported photos to contain (ie: ALL or COPYRIGHT ONLY, etc...).
