I recently went to Scotland with my boyfriend and we visited the Botanical Gardens in Edinbrugh (http://www.rbge.org.uk/). Had some lovely flowers there and here are some of the pictures I have managed to process so far. There may be more to come.
All taken hand held with my EF100mm f/2.8 Macro.
If anyone wanted to know the settings then I'll post them another time.
Please tell me what you think

I think you did VERY well with these, Mel. All are composed in a way that sparks further exploration into the image. Great detail and, of course, the color is terrific.
BTW, I used to live in Rickmansworth :)

Fantastic shots, nicely composed and sharp details.

Mel, what a beautiful series. I was amazed at the intricate edge of the flower in No. 1, but it was No. 3 that really caught my eye.
What fantastic focus, beautiful colour and lighting reflecting nicely on the crystal clear water droplets.

Thanks for your comment, I definitely enjoyed the range of colours at the gardens, glad I could do it justice when I captured it.
Never been to Rickmansworth personally, but thanks to the wonders of google maps I know where you mean now!
Fantastic shots, nicely composed and sharp details.

Thanks Jon, I love the detail I can get with my macro lens!

Thank you Kaye. There were a couple of other flowers with a similar edging to them - particularly when we got to the orchids. Sadly all of the orchids were kept behind glass so it was harder to get pictures of them. I guess they must be too expensive and precious to risk having people pick them or accidently stand on them or something!

Thanks Mark,
There are more to come from this day, it's just finding the time to process and edit them a little bit where they need it!

Fantastic series. Good detail and composition. I like 1 and 3 the best. Especially 3 :)
