Hello to everyone. My name is niamh and i am from Ireland. I just started the course today. I have a canon eos 350d. I have always taken my photos in automatic mode as i've never had the confidence to use manual. I must admit that i find a lot of the technical stuff very confusing. I'm hoping this course will give me the confidence and knowledge i need to start taking some proper photos. I've seen some of the photos taken by students on the course and they are really great.

Welcome Teddy.

I was the same, and still struggle with all the technical stuff, however I have only been on the course for a couple of months and already things are starting to become clear. There is light at the end of the tunnel! Stick with it, it'll all be worth it.

Welcome Teddy -

Sometimes the technical stuff doesn't matter, just the end result. Just start shooting manual and it will come.

Welcomb aboard, Niamh! You've come to the right place. Although my camera is not as good as yours, I still want to know about the techie stuff. And, I'm learning fast (for me, anyways :)). Don't be afraid to just jump right in there and enjoy.

Welcome Niamh, We have a few members from Ireland on here :)

Don't worry about the technical stuff being confusing, given time, it will all become clear. The course as I am sure you are aware, is laid out very well, and expalins things very well.

If you have any problems, there is always this forum to discuss it and dont be afraid to ask the question, you may well find out that others were unaware of what something meant but were too afraid to ask. ;)

Welcome Niamh from another Ireland member from Dublin. You are in the course and forum to get beyond the auto shots which is one of the reasons I joined. Its a great site with very friendly and helpful members, so ask any questions and I'm sure you'll get answers.

Welcome aboard, Niamh!

You are going to enjoy this place cause it is full of the most helpful, friendly people. I've only been a member a little over a week and I already feel completely at home. I was really scared to post my first pictures cause I'm not real sure they were worth posting but the group has made me feel more confident. I'm not real sure the pictures are worth the praise but at least I'm confident enough to post them now. I'm only up to lesson 3, the weather is keeping me from completing the assignment and I won't move on until I've done it. I'll get there.

So, what I'm saying is post away! We would love to see more pictures from that beautiful country of yours. My mom's family came from Ireland, many, many years ago.
