Ok, here goes. This one was taken early in the morning before daylight. I used my a100 on a tripod at 25.0 of a second without flash. I'm not sure how to add the complete exif info but will tell anyone that ask. It's not good color-wise but I was pleased since it was taken in complete darkness. My hubby commented on the ice 'shine' from the pole light and I had to see if I could take a picture. It's too yellow but I'm just learning and have a long way to go.

And I took this one on my route. I shot in raw and adjusted it a bit. I'm not good at that either but still giving it a try.

Mary - Both are nice shots. I don't mind the yellow, gives it character. I want to get better at taking night shots (when it's warmer of course), but here are night shots the first couple of times I went out. I think night shows are more interesting and you see things you don't normally see during the day.

Thanks Debbie. I hope to improve after the course. I like your pics too, especially the one with the ghostly figures. I'm going to have to do lots of searching to find photography images like yours. We are pretty rural here and nothing exciting to shot.

Hi all, I decided to post one more shot before I get off here and get to backing up my data. This one was taken on the way to work and it was a gloomy, cloudy day. Two days later, the sun was shining bright and my ride to work was awesome and did I have my camera with me? Nope :( Just go to show you should carry it every where you go but I'm afraid it will get damaged in my package car and I'd cry big time.

They are really good, Mary. I especially like the first two. I like the yellow tinge, as Debbie said, it gives it character.

What is the red on the third picture?, they look like big tongues!

:D You gave me quite a chuckle, Jon. It's a bouquet of silk poinsettia's in white and red and they were encased in ice. We had an inch of ice the first of December and lost power for almost a week. It really wrecked the trees, especially the elms. Thanks for the kudos.

Thank you, Gary, you make me feel like my photography just might have some promise. I hope to improve on all my shots but don't really want the ice storm to return so I can do a redo.

Trust me, Andy, it was COLD! We were just lucky that the wind stayed calm or it would have been a disaster around here. It was bad enough with the tree limbs falling into the lines but had the wind blown it would have snapped poles too and that would have taken the power company even longer to restore. I wish I had my camera with me the day the sun finally returned. It was beautiful driving to work with the sun coming up and making all that ice just glow. Words could never express the beauty that day.

Thank you, Susan. Did you see my reply to how to update my firmware on my camera?

Nice shots of an Ice Storm, we don't have these in Ireland so it's amazing to see these shots. We can't cope with severe frost or a few inches of snow, so I can't imagine how we'd manage with these conditions.

Well Daltoned -

Good thing you don't live here. I just saw the weather forecast for the remainder of the week. Light snow on Wednesday, then cold by the weekend (that would mean a high of 5F).

And Gary -

I'm think Bailey's and coffee.

Bailey's and coffee is warmer.

Depends on how much Guiness ya drink. I remember getting pretty toasted in Dublin! heheh and I wasn't even tryin'. I think if I would've tried, I betcha I could've blown the ol' thermostat. :D

Hey! You Irish dudes can jump on in here any time you'd like and sort this out, ya know!

We have more than I like of them. This one was a real bad one cause it took out most of the power in north Missouri. This same storm went through Oklahoma too. It was hard to find power men to come cause they were all working in Oklahoma. We survived, we always do, but its not something we like to repeat too often. I was born and raised in Missouri so I guess I've gotten used to it.

Thanks for the compliments. Just wish I'd got some when the sun came out, it was beautiful then, especially early that morning when it was shining through all those ice laden trees.

Okay Mary and Sue, I need your help - Gary is trying to gang up on me and I need your help.

On a cold winter day, do you prefer:

Guiness (cold and harsh)

Bailey's and coffee (warm and toasty)

LOL....since I'm not a beer drinker (I believe Guiness is beer), guess I'll have to say the Bailey's and coffee would be much better for a cold, winter day. Or, maybe Bailey's and hot chocolate...or if you're really cold you can do the Bailey's and forget the coffee!

Nite all!
