Hi Gary, I like the concept of this shot but I have a few nits with it.

1. The bud lower right caught my eye, I reckon it is that green strip that you see that detracts.

2. The white to the top left, running up the leaf and also the bud case, this forms a V and the V holds power and again takes the eye away from the core subject.

3. The yellow to the right of the flower bud looks too bright (or saturated).

Did you use a flash on the image?

I really like the idea, it just needs a little help to get it the rest of the way.

Thanks

Andy

Thanks for you input, Andy. When you see the bloom this bud produces, you'll see that the yellows are very vivid and they gradual flow into a bright orange. No flash was used. This was taken in bright sunlight.

Cheers Gary, I look forward to seeing the bloom in it's glory.

Gary,

Great bud! Your florals are always amazing. Did you use your black velvet behind it?

Thanks, Marianne. This shot was taken outdoors on an overcast day. No special background was used.
