Living in a Florida coastal community, these are one of the most prevalent raptors around.
Their fisihing abilities are remarkable! When one swoops and hits the water he rarely misses his catch. They are doing lots of fishing these days as there are lots of chicks to be fed!

Here's the nest from which he launched (I think it's "he"). These chicks grow very rapidly and are now almost full sized. Note the eye-color difference between Mom and babies.

Mom has had enough of Mr. Photographer, time to leave....:)

What a fantastic series Tim. These are amazing birds and you have captured them so well here.
I do love them all, but Nos. 2 and 3 really stand out for me. Lovely sharpness. Looking again, No. 3 is the winner for me. The detail of the eyes is fantastic... and amazing to see the difference in the eye colour.

Magnificent images Tim! 3+4 are so clear with great detail, and the expression you've captured in the last is so impressive!

I think they are great #2 is first class. They are all first. It appears to be an enlargement of #1 which shows great detail in the birds wing and the eye spot on focus wise. Not an easy thing to do when they are flying past you at about 5 million miles an hour (might have exaggerated there) but you get what I am trying to say. Excellent Tim, it is the type of photo I dream about.

Regards

Delboy.

Nice work Tim, no.4 is great, knowing how close you get to some of your shots, i have to wonder also what lens you used and how close to the angry mumma you were :-)

Thank you all for your kind comments! Mingky, These were shot with a Nikon 200-400mm F4.0 lens on a Nikon D300 body,

Hi Tim, excellent series, all are top notch shots, but I have no hesitation in picking the second as my favourite…great exposure, well defined, great angle, the perfect shot.
The classic Osprey shot, in flight and with the fish griped in the talons…superb Tim.
