View Full Version : Bees at Work
Shot these two weeks ago.
Nikon D90, Lens Nikon 18-105mm, so chose not to try a more macro or closer crop of these. (I prefer the two in my next post, as the more I look at these four, I feel they are little too dark).
All at: F/5.6, ISO 250, 1/800sec, ExpBias -0.7, 105mm

I really like the bee in flight, but my favourite is the first one above. Really nice colours and detail and the bee stands out well.

Great as usual Kaye I am very partial to #1 of the second set, well done with the new camera

Thanks you very much for the comment Nikki.

Wanda, I really appreciate your comment. I too preferred the first in the second set. (Probably as I managed a closer shot and I love macro).
I am getting there with the camera and am on my way with the course.

Excellent shots, Kaye. I especially like the last two you posted. The bee in flight is a great shot but I also love the detail and clarity of the last post. The colors are also fantastic.
Eddie, thank you, I really appreciate your comments. It is certainly easier to capture a bee in flight with the D90, but I can't help my self.... I still want to get closer. (I missed a used macro lens on ebay the other day).

Hey Kaye,
These are all great and i am going to buck the trend a bit and say I like 2 and 3 or the first set but no 1 of the second set is my favourite overall. I love how clear and sharp they are and it isn't easy to catch them as they don't stay still for long. I am going to crack a bit of an Aussie joke here and hope you get it .........
That's not a bee...... THIS is a bee :) (the Croc Dundee Knife joke)

I just found this thread as I was going to post a few bee pics of my own - the bumble bees over here are gorgeous big fluffy things and there was one flying around in my dad's garden so I couldn't resist. These things are about 4 times the size of the aussie bees (about the only thing that ISN't bigger over there!). I hope you like him (oh and as usual I have no idea what the pretty flowers are)

Thanks so much for viewing these Ciara and for your thoughts and feedback. I appreciate the joke BTW :D
I love your bee shot, although it is difficult in a photo to see the difference in size. This was the one I said I preferred in your new post.
I don't know what the flowers are either, but perhaps someone will know.
I hope you're enjoying life over there. We have had the coldest May in many years and lots of miserable wet weather, so you're not missing much here.
