Hi all
I have been doing some research on the above titled lens.
It looks great from what I have seen and read and more importantly not too expensive.
Does anybody have any personal experience with it or thoughts
on it?
all comments appreciated
Thanks to all
Regards
John

It's a good lens that goes for auto focus lens or the manual lens! I have not looked at your link , but i prefer the Manual Only job!
Of course L series perform better , but some good canon manual glass or even canon L manual glass does the same job to the same standard?
It's down to the photographer really and what they intend to use the lens for!

Si is right, it's a damnm good lens for the money. I have the same and it's sharp as a tack. I believe I spent $80.00 on that lens 6 months ago.

Price / performance of the EF 85mm 1.8 cannot be doubted.
Should be in everybody's bag.

I have a 50mm 1.8 and I love that. I would love to try that lens.

I use a Nikon but have the 50.. 1.8 and I also love it. Very versatile lens and cheap compared to most Nikon (and I'm sure Canon) lenses.

Coffee, where in the world did you snag one for $80? Nothing cheaper than like $280 and up from what I see around the net.

He is talking about the 50mm F/1.8, not the 85mm F/1.8 lens. :)
I am a Nikon guy and basically we have similar situations, however in my case, I waited a little, saved more and picked up the more expensive 85mm F/1.4 lens. This is one of my most favorite lenses to play with. Talk about a sharp lens with drastically blurred backgrounds or foregrounds (and in some cases, both... lol)
