Ok. I have taken some photos is raw just to play around a bit. My question is this. My photoshop elements 4.0 won't open them. I am assuming because they have to be converted somewhere else. I can open them and view them in the program that came with my Canon 60D. Once the photo opens up in the Canon program has that raw photo now converted itself through the program???
I hope I have made sense here lol.
Thanks
John

You might have to download the newest version of Adobe DNG converter and convert your RAW files to DNG to use that version of PE to edit the CR2 files from your 60D. I think you have to step all the way up to PE9 in order to edit the RAW files from the 60D directly.
While I have the CS5 version of Photoshop I still convert all my RAW files to DNG and use Camera Raw to do the majority of my post processing. I really like the idea of the DNG files, they still retain all the information of the native RAW files, but it is an open format that several different editors can open and edit, therefore the issue of your RAW files not being supported a couple years down the line are far less.

I use a 60d and a rebel xs and i have elements 8 and 9 and they both will edit raw. This is the best way to do quality professoinal images..
