A friend of mine asked of there is a way to convert slides to digital images. I came up with this:

http://www.shop.com/Opteka_Slide_Duplicator_For_Digital_Cameras-28313223-37224202-p!.shtml?sourceid=298

He had over 500 slides dating from the early 50's and was interested in preserving them with some cleaning up on them. I showed this little dandy to him and he bought it for me with the understanding that it be my payment for converting and burning to a DVD. He's a very good friend so, I agreed. Here's a sample of one after I ran it through Gimp. Supposedly there some shots of Hitler's "Eagles Nest" in amongst them. I wouldn't know it from a Holiday Inn. But, he says it's in there amongst the slides. This is NOT the Eagles Nest but before and after shots of a cracked slide.

Gary those are very cool. I just posted something like that (I did some work and will again in the future for a family members business and in return they bought me my pro printer and the alien bee digi set. I wasn't going to charge anything anyway.

I think we both got a fair shake outta this one. I can always use it to make a li'l extra $$$. Not that there's a HUGE demand for it heheh

I was at photo club last nite and someone was just talking about buying a slide converter to convert all of her slides to digital. How wierd is that???? Looks like you did a pretty good job Gary.

Thanks, Debbie. I get to start this li'l project tonight. I'm looking forward to it. Makes me feel as if I'm preserving history. My wife, who does not share my interest in either history or photograph and would be content with a disposable film camera, is even interested in this project. I'll share some of the more interesting ones with y'all.
