Welcome to the forum. Don't worry about not having a DSLR, Many people on this forum have a P&S and do just fine with it.

Have fun and don't be afraid to ask questions if you are not sure.

I think you're the first one from down under. Like Andy says, don't worry about having a DSLR, the same photo principles will apply to the camera you have. You'll find us a very friendly bunch.

Welcome Tina. A p&s will be just fine. I see some p&s photos on here that are just AWESOME! Having a DSLR doesn't make a difference. Join in and post some photos!
