No Kaye, I've got it for some time now, say 10/11 months, but at the beginning I could not get anything to focus, or everything is black, Just at the point of giving up there was 1 photo per memory card that's usable, so I'm still learning. Think I can average 5 usable (maybe not to good) photos per memory card now. lol. before the lens I always tried the macro setting on the camera, but that didn't do the thing

wonderful captures. :)
Ronel, part of the key that I have been taught is to control your breathing; slow your rate of breathing, have your lens-on Manual with the focal distance set, use your body to focus & 1/3 of an out breath should get you to the sweet spot of squeezing the shutter release. This is the method I use all the time now & I Guess I have 6 out of 10 as keepers.
Hope the above Makes sense.
Thanks Andy

Andy, 6 out of 10 keepers will work for me for sure! I will practice it and let you know. May I ask something else pls? On manual with your macro shots, what DOF is best, because I think thats why my photos are so dark sometimes, but when I use a smaller no AV, my focus range looks to small. Do I make any sense to you? If you take my photos of this spider, I actually wanted more of the web to show.

Hi Ronel, depends on the ambient light as to f stops; if I haven't taken my Sigma twin ring flash I never have a fear of shooting with the built in flash; I just wrap a paper kitchen towel around the flash head. The real sweet spot of my lens seems to be between f16 and f22, these normally give me the DOF I require.
Hope this helps

Thanks Andy for your help, I've read about your famous kitchen towel and will definitely use it next time. I also do have a speedlite, but its not always possible to get the hole contraption in small places where the interesting stuff is. So I will try the build in flash, with that I can maybe increase my f stops because the best I can get so far is f5.6, and that sucks big time.

Just practice using various settings, you can even bracket your shots and see how they turn out; practice is they key element though.
