I'm guessing this is a duck in with the geese. People around town said there are some Eagles traveling with them but I didn't spot them. I might go back out this afternoon since the wind isn't blowing.

Nope. That's juvenile Canada goose, Mary. At least, I'm pretty sure it is.

Mary I think Gary is right. We have a bunch of those at a local park and the juveniles look just like that! I could be wrong though. It wouldn't be the first. Just ask my husband! hahaha

I knew if anyone would know, you would...I had no idea and just happened to be shooting some of the other geese when he/she stood up and I noticed those bright orange feet. I was glad I got a good picture of this one.

Since you are our official bird man...;) why do they stand on one foot? I noticed that today since I couldn't really get any good pictures, I was just looking at them through my telephoto lens and noticed a lot of them just standing on one foot. I couldn't even tell where the other foot was. There were a lot with bands on their legs so someone is following their migration process.

It's funny, when they are hunkered down, they have their heads tucked so far in that it looks like they have their butts sticking up in the air. :D

I've never been so entranced by birds before but these have really sparked an interest in me. I catch myself thinking about them even when I can't get out and take pictures. I keep wondering if they are warm enough, if they have enough food, etc. :)
