Hi all

I Was in my room last night snapping around with my new 50mm f1.8 lens or "nifty fifty" if you like.

Anyway i managed to turn this out.

What do you think. I like it.It has had a small bit of editing nothing major, maybe I should do some more, any ideas?

thanks for taking the time to look

John, can you increase the exposure a bit to show the glass around the filament a little more? Not so much that the filament blows out... just enough to bring out the glass. I'd be interested in seeing that.

John -

I like the idea, but at the risk of sounding critical - was there any camera shake? When you blow it up, it looks blurry. I too would like to see more of the glass. I think a little bit more light would help.

Hi guys

Here is an updated shot with one full stop of increased exposure.
I don't notice a major improvement myself?
What do you think.
BTW, I used Adobe lightroom to increase the exposure.

@debbie - Yeah I was away for the night with work and had no tripod so yeah a small bit of camera shake alright im afraid.

John

John -

There's no link, unless it's the same as above.

I notice too lately I have camera shake - to the point where I might have to start saving my pennies to upgrade to IS lenses or make sure I have the tripod with me all the time.

Hi debbie

The link is there now.
Yeah I happened to be looking at some IS lenses myself but they are fierce expensive for my shallow pockets!

That's a LOT better, John. Have you checked into a Gorillapod? I have one for my "carry around" Canon and it works great. You can pick up one on eBay pretty cheap.

I've found that in macros and high-end zoom, I have to turn OFF IS if I'm using a tripod. Oh, and does your camera have a remote? If so, that helps a lot once it's on the tripod/table/DRINKING GLASS (Mary - heheheh) or use the 2 second timer.

The less you touch it, the better your shot.

Hi gary

Yeah I was at the airport looking for a gorilla pod but they didnt have any
I will get one on ebay as you say. handy to have cos my hands arent as steady and im only a young fella (god help me when i get older - severely blurred shots will hopefully be an art form by then)lol :)

Thanks for the input Gary, appreciate it.

Regards
John

BTW : Is the gorilla pod really that good that it can be mounted almost anywhere?
I need the Gorillapod SLR. It holds up to 800g.the 400D is 556g
What camera do you use it with?

I had my doubts, too. Usually, when a product is hyped as much as this one, it's disappointing. But, truly, it IS as good a the hype. I have the smaller one for P&S's for my Canon. However, I just got a teleconverter for both cameras and I'll need the bigger one for SLRs. My little one fits in my jacket pocket and I've used it on brass doorknobs with no problem.

This is much better.

I have read several reviews on the Gorillapod and they've all been good. I think these are the ones that can be wrapped around other objects as well. And - I don't think they're very expensive. The small one I believe sells for about $20/US.
