King Parrot ?

Not a birder at all but I think he is a king parrot I am sure somebody will tell me for sure Anyway I was sitting in my backyard this morning when him and his wife came to visit could not get the other one due to branches in the way and also was too high up in the tree this one was much closer

Lovely shots Nikkie, and yes this is the male King Parrot. I find they are difficult to capture as they are very timid and rarely come close.
You have captured his colour nicely here with a nice DOF (depth of field), although the focus is a tiny bit soft.
To add some more interest to your shots, I feel it would be better if the bird was not in the middle. When you have done more of the course, you will learn more on the Rule of Thirds.

Thank you Kaye for this information these birds well there were 2 but his missus was up too high and had a branch in front of her face but he just sat there they come into my yard this time of the year not sure if its the same male but last year they come right up near the back door we have one of those hand rails that you see in bathrooms near the back step and he will sit there and don't seem to bother if were there right next to him I think its strange as yes from what I have heard they can be a tad shy just like me :) so I should get more as they are just starting to come back here.
