Some day, I'm going to get good shots of them...I tried again this morning but can't get close to them..my car doesn't bother them but as soon as I get out, they start taking off away from me.

But, I still thought Gary would like to see these.

Nice. I really like the second one (one on the right). The color is so crisp!

Thanks, Sue! I just can't get them to pose for me. These were taken out of a big photo so I could get a closeup of them. I now see the advantages of uploading to a photo site. I wouldn't have to downsize them so far. I'm going to try and work on a site today...

Aaaaaaaaaaaarrrrggggg!! Has the cold weather frozen your brain?!! These shots are marvelous! The one on the left is outstanding.

Just keep shooting! You are your own worst critic, Mary.

And you are too kind! :)

I can definitely see I need to get that Flicker account started so I won't have to downsize these so far.

I had a week from &*&^ last week and my brain is about done in. They (the suit guys at UPS) took my brand new package car away from me on Monday and sent it to another center. It was a gas engine that got around great in the snow but it was under warranty and it broke down and cost them $1000 for a tow to the city. So...they decided to move it closer to the city and they sent me one piece of junk. It was dirty as a pig pen and a diesel. Wouldn't start one morning for two hours until the sun warmed it up, got me stuck twice, and needed 40 acres to turn it around and in the rural areas with 10 inches of snow, you don't have that much room to turn. Ugh...made me tell them I was retiring a lot quicker then I planned.

But, you made me feel good with your comments!

Mary -

These are fantastic. You and I need a new mantra. Now repeat after me:

"I do take nice shots, they are nothing to be ashamed of" - "I do take nice shots, they are nothing to be ashamed of" "I do take nice shots, they are nothing to be ashamed of"

These are great shots Mary. I like both of them, the first one shows great action but with shallow depth of field which is great.

Mary, did you do any PP on these aside from cropping?

I did a little WB and USM on my fav. See what you think:

Yes, I did both of those...I shoot in raw so they have to be converted before I can share them. I don't use the USM..I use the filter high pass and then set my layer style to overlay or hard light and then adjust the opacity down to what I like to see in the image...not to sharp but sharp enough for webview and sharper if I'm going to print them out. I usually use levels and curves to bring up the color and contrast.

I like your version...the water is much bluer.

My hubby thinks I'm getting obsessed by them...they just really interest me and I keep hoping I'll get a close up of the three swans but didn't even see them today...they may have finally moved on. :(

Thank you, Andy!
