Hello first of all I want to explain to you I am an older women a mum of 5 grown kids and a grand mother of 3 so coming back to learn again its been a long long time since Ive done any study at all. What I need to know is how does the grading system work I would rather not give you my results because I am sure I failed miserably Is there a sample somebody could give me to help me understand the grading system works here at proud photography I don't want to go back to my tutor as I am sure he has enough to do but if somebody could just please give me an example of how this works please please please. And I also think its different in different country's or even different parts of the same country. I did a Google search and it seems if I was in New Zealand my grade I would be more then pleased with I was happy with the comments I got from my tutor but still not sure so I guess what I am asking is what would a pass be and what would a fail be. Anyway this is very embarrassing to say the least but this is very very important to me I can't start to tell you how important it is to me so if you could give me an example that would be a big help.

Hi Nikkie,
Firstly, you should never 'feel like a real dill' for asking questions, as we all have to start learning somewhere. Also, I believe you are amongst many members of a similar age, including myself. We can still learn, but maybe it doesn't sink in quite as fast :D But we will improve.
With the course results, I am presuming you have received your first result? I am still not finished the course either, but I believe that the assignments that are graded are marked out of 10.
There will be no difference in marking for different parts of the world. Your tutor will give you a grade out of 10 according to how he views your shots, and just the same for me and other members doing the course.
Nikkie, I hope this answers your question... if not please ask more.

Hi Nikki don't worry about asking questions that's what this is all about. As Kaye says the assignments are marked out of 10 but I also received a percentage in brackets. You need 80% to pass the course but can redo any assignment if you are not happy with you mark. If you log into your course and return to the first lesson, you will find all the details under the heading "Introduction to Photography and General Terms". I hope this helps.

Nikkie, like the ladies said above, don't ever feel silly for asking questions in here, after all that is what the forum is all about. There is a bunch of helpful, friendly people on the forum and most of us started exactly where you are right now. Shirley is right, if you don't get the 80% pass mark you can redo your assignment. If you are unsure of the shots you want to post or don't understand some of the questions, ask away. Most of all, enjoy!!

Nikkie, I hope this answers your question... if not please ask more. Kaye Thank you so much for you kind information it has helped me I tried to get on to chat but had to hang up due to life. Yes I know I will learn and this course has taught me a lot so far loving it :) what I meant was I did a Google search and the ways test were graded was different in different country's or even parts of the same country I mean the system used the I did end up finding this style of grading that but the first number was different with percentage for example in one country 8.0 (80 %) = the old style A but in another place it was a A+ or even a B I have wanted to be a photographer since I was in my very early 20s but could not afford the gear and then life happened :) until now its my turn to do something for myself as I have no babies to put first if you know what I mean. Any way it looks like I got a pass and a good pass as well from what I got I am one happy lady right now :) thanks again

Nikki, please keep up your shots and postings. The courses are so good, but the Forum has been my saving grace. And above all, have patience in yourself and waiting for response in the forum. Sometimes it is fast paced and other times it is slow. It all depends on all of us!!

Part of your entry free to the PP courses is the freedom to utilize the tutors with regards to the course(s) you paid for, as well as any general or specific photography question. Don't be afraid to ask them any questions you have while working on the course. If you don't because you think they are too busy, you may be handicapping yourself.
