What a great sequence of shots Sandy. Your focus on the King Parrot is pretty good. I just love the 'upsidedown' take off :D and your in-flight shot is nice also.
It is a pity that the sky, although cloudy, had so much brightness.
Perhaps you have already tried this, but with a background like this I would set my Exposure Compensation down to perhaps -1, give or take. This can help tame down that overexposed brightness of the sky.
The regular pair of King Parrots I see often at my house have also started to come back. I tried some shots yesterday in the afternoon, but they were hiding amongst the branches and the brightness from the sun was behind them.
Not that we are seeing much sun at present!

Nikkie,
Another nice series of your local birders. My favorite is the last one. I also like your idea of preparing to take off thru the take off and gone. Fun!

Thank you Kaye I am very proud of my shot I did have it set up higher in hope to catch in dive or in flight I could see him he was a tad higher in the tree and he started to move down he was watching me as well but also looking at the food I gave them these 2 are starting to trust me now I put my camera up as you can see in the last shot which is really my main shot the one I was hoping to get I did not know I would get it quiet like that tho thank you for your comments I am getting sick of this cloud as I had an operation on my arm and that took 6 weeks to get better and no shooting and now no sun :( I am missing going out on my day trips to do my landscapes again that I had only just started doing before my operation. But if the birds see your out there with the camera they will get use to you and come down lower for you hopefully try leaving some food for them I got some wild bird seed I scatter on the ground the first day no body ate any of it the next day I could see he was watching me and looking for food so I went and got the food and sprinkled on the ground with in moments him and his misses were both on the ground enjoying there food give it a try and who knows you might also attract other species as well we have galahs and cockatoos here but not have come into my yard the neighbors have some yummy mandarins on there tree in there backyard the cookies must like them better then my seed LoL
