This one is challenging me a little more than it should be... lol

The rule of thirds is easy enough to understand and I have that one down now and execute it without even thinking about it.

Leading lines I understand well enough, but it is difficult to find real world examples of... but not for long, I have a few thoughts about this one.

Geometry. Now thats a challenge to find in the everyday world. I found an excellent example but blew the execution.

When I redo an exercise, I do not want to fix the picture and resubmit it in an improved format (though I suppose it would be acceptable), but I literally re-do the assignment with new pics that encourage me to focus on the specific goals.

How are you guys and gals doing with this one?

Sorry, Jerry, you are way ahead of me...I'm still waiting on some decent weather to do the assignment for lesson 3...haven't even thought of moving to 4 until I get this one in my head.

I work long hours during the week, so all I have all weekends for shooting and the weather doesn't cooperate real well, plus traffic and people are almost non-exist in north Missouri during the winter time...:D

Thats ok friends, I was not expecting many to respond but more of a place to open the door for those that did and wanted to discuss it.

Don't feel bad if you did not start this part of the course yet, its not a race, its a pleasure!

Besides, I am off on a vacation for 10 days so that will give some a little time to maybe look at it and enjoy this level.

See you guys when I get back! :)

How did you guys go with this assignment? Can anyone post there results? I need some inspiration!

I chose geometry, leading lines and rule of thirds. Now, I don't have an issue with posting what my assignment submission was, but let me say that if someone asked me to recreate the lab today, it would be a hundred times better. Practice and experience make a BIG difference in partnership with the course.

Jerry, I have just submitted my assignment 5. But after looking at yours, I will probably have to redo mine. Your shots are great and makes mine look absolutely elementary and hideous. I should know my fate tomorrow. So if I need or want to resubmit, your ideas have inspired me.

Hi Jerry, I noticed that it's a year and one day since you posted this but as I'm sitting today in what were your shoes a year ago I thought it would be neat to post :) I just submitted my photos for lesson 5 and awaiting the response. Cleveland is not a very 'pretty' city in terms of interesting architecture and display of such. Where I am is either one extreme or another...buildings all crowded together or out-lying land areas with the cute barn here or there. Even the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame looks really crummy in the winter - the snow and grime on the glass makes it look horrible and very unpleasing to photograph. Getting in a spot where there are no wires or lights is tough, too. I'm frustrated. This is also the coldest winter Cleveland has ever had which isn't conducive to going out and taking photos (for as long as it takes me to think about what I'm doing and set up. If I wanted to submit this assignment before May I was reduced to submitting a few more still life photos than I would have wanted to. We'll see what happens. If the critique is bland I just might hold off on the rest of the course until the weather improves. I read that at this time last year you were getting ready to head to Disney. I took my girls there in May of 08 and it was long before I had my new camera and was taking this course. Now I figure I've justified a reason to go back hahahahaha What outfit did you take into the park? I've heard many people had problems taking 'professional' equipment inside and were told to put items back in their car or they wouldn't be allowed in the park. With so many people using more professional-looking DSLR's now, and taking courses to take better photos it's tough to tell anymore who is the amateur and who is the pro.
