Okay - Here's the theme for the week, which happens to be one of my favorites.

Well, good grief! You sent this mesage on Sat. and I just now found it....I don't know why but most of the time, the forum will show yellow when there is a new post and then, like now, it doesn't do anything but show gray which is how I check to see if any new posts have been posted. Do you have this problem?

Anyway, sounds like a great topic and I'll try and get something shot this weekend.

I was wondering if you saw this. Every once in a while when I choose new posts, nothing shows up, so I too have to search through all the posts. I thought it was just me.

BTW - Get a lot of snow yesterday?

Do you click on the "New Posts" link at the top of the screen? That works for me all the time when just looking at yellow and grey are kinda goofy.

I'm glad its not just me....we got a ton of rain today and its suppose to snow 8 to 10 inches tonight and I have no idea how they are going to plow the rock roads cause there is no rock left on them and they are muddy, muddy, muddy. We got 3 inches on Sunday but it melted off on Monday and then it snowed about 2 inches this am before changing to all rain. I'm so ready for SPRING! :(

Hi Sophie and Snappers, and thanks for looking. How it was done is very easy to set up, but hard to capture. There are some on the internet that vocus on just this type of photography, and you can't believe the images. They people have timers and all sorts of stuff hooked so a drop of water trips a senor, and snaps the shot. Way above what I can afford, but I would like to some day.I will find a link for you to look at.

But in a nut shell, I set a picture upside down behind a dripping faucet. The reflection in the drop will be turned upside down. Set for a fast shutter. Maybe 1/500. Then just time the shot. You really have to have a remote shutter realese other wise you will have camera shake. And you really need a macro lens. I use a Canon 100mm 2.8 macro. One of the best macro lenses for the money.

The second shot was easy to set up too. Just a clear bowl of water, with some refective Christmas wrapping paper under it. I set an eye dropper of water above it, real high tech hu, then again just timed the shot out.

A lot of triall and error though the way I have it set up cause again I don't use all the electronics to time out the drop. I think I took about 800 shots just to get those two.

Here is that link: http://www.liquidsculpture.com/fine_art/index.htm

Thank you for the compliments. This was one of the shots taken a couple of weeks ago. Mary - very original reflection shot, I like it.

Sophie - Nice night reflection.

Joseph - I saw these before and again, think they're stunning. Something I'd like to try.

OK, I dont have any tall buildings with mirrors etc, and the wind has been too strong this week to get any nice reflection shots in the nearby lake so I had to put my thinking cap on.

I took this picture with a strange idea in mind, it is an electric shaver with a reflection of someone using a hand razor.

Not sure if it came out quite as I had planned but any comments are welcome.

Great idea! You definitely used your imagination on this one. I went for my walk this morning thinking I would see something I could use for reflection but nothing came to me...I've got another day but can't work on it now...got to finish up Valentine gifts for my grandson's school class...he would disown his granny if I didn't get them done in time. :(

:D:DOk...new rule...we need to go through the weekend..or at least for me..:) since I really don't feel comfortable taking my camera to work with me...too much vibration and too cold and I don't feel safe putting it up front with me...(too easy to 'borrow'). I know I could have done it last weekend but had to have a bit of time to think about it too...so...I'm posting on Sat...:D:D I was sitting here thinking about what I could find to take and it was staring me in the face the whole time...

How about you coming up with a topic? Anything you want will be great with us...I liked this reflection one too.

I missed a great minimalism shot last Thurs. We have lots of snow on the ground (14 inches up north) and that morning we had a lot of fog and it 'froze' on the trees. I was driving north up US 69 highway and to my left was a vast field of snow with one lone enormous tree in the middle of it, completely covered in frost...plus the fence that was running in front of the field was covered with frost too. The clouds were beginning to disappear so the blue sky was magnificent behind the tree...It would have been a beautiful, minimalism type of photo but no camera.:(

So, Debbie, you are an early riser too, huh? I've been up since 5 but normally I sleep in till 6 on Sunday mornings. But, I'm working up some stuff for my grandson's Valentine party and it HAS to get done today and I'm a long way from finished with it.

I could also use my 75-300mm lens as it has a macro position but you just can't get as close as you could with a macro lens plus its not a very fast lens. I'll try my 50mm first and then if that don't work, I'll be shopping for a macro...;) Not that I can afford one right now but I can window shop and dream.

It might be a good idea to ask the admin if there could be a separate area (subforum)for the weekly shots. Like there is for the Class Assignments.

Just a thought.

Oh Heavens - I've been awake since about 4:00, finally got out of bed about 5:30. I can't remember the last time I slept past 5:00, always been an early riser.

I have a 75-300 as well, but it doesn't have a macro setting. The 50mm takes very nice pictures, so I'll just zoom in close.

Gary - I was wondering the same thing about a separate area, otherwise these threads could get very long.

You and me both...maybe we were thinking about the same things at 4 am...Me...I was thinking that my hubby was taking up more than his side of the bed... and his snoring was getting louder and louder, the closer it came to my ear...:mad: I finally gave up at 5.

Hey, Gary, that is a good idea....about having a separate forum, guess I need to ask the administrator if that would be possible. Thanks for the heads up!

I was thinking the same thing about the seperate section on the forum for weekly shots but I would also like to make another suggestion. Currently we have the title Weekly Photo Shots #2 perhaps it would be better to name them Weekly Photo shots #2 Reflections. This way, if we are looking back over the forum it will tell us in the title what the pics are about rather than opening the section and searching through. Just incase you want some inspiration at a later date.
What do others think?
