Wow, Eddie. This is a great photo. The beautiful reflection and the vivid colors of the heron are so well captured. The composition and DOF are fantastic. Well done!

Thank you so much, Marianne. I took this photo a few months ago and just could not get the edit quite right. There was always something about it that needed to be improved. I finally came up with this version that I liked. The fun part, though, was that my 6 year old (at the time) daughter was with me and took a similar picture with my Sony cybershot camera and it came out great. She entered it into the kids photography competition at the LA County Fair this year and won a second place ribbon. My wife and I are quite proud of her and we can't wait to bring the picture home next week as we already have a frame ready to go for it.

Hi Eddie,
This is a superb shot. I love everthing about it... composition, natural colours, great sharpness on the heron with wonderful detail, and a perfect reflection.
Wonderful processing on this shot. It has an overall nice softness to it which really makes the heron stand out as the subject. Beautiful.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this one, Kaye. I was surprised how close he allowed me to get to take the shot.

Eddie, I love this shot. The reflections are beautiful and so is the composition. It is processed just right I think, but I am far from being an expert. I just know I like this one.

Welcome to the forums, Dojobe, we're glad to have you with us! I was surprised at how close I got as well. My daughter was with me at the time and I was more concerned about keeping her safe than anything else. We threw the heron a little treat afterwards as a thank you. When will we get to see some of your shots, Dojobe? Looking forward to it.

Hi Eddie what a great shot. I love the symmetry you have with the bird and reflection & the reeds just perfect that IMO. Just love the composition & illustrates wonderfully when less is more :)
