My first attempts at translating theory into practice... as we all know, reading and doing are 2 completely different things.

Sunsets... naturally and with an off camera flash. I am very disappointed with the results ad need a LOT more practice!

One thing about sunsets that I was never aware of... they disappear SO FAST... we are talking a time frame of maybe 10 minutes of photo time before conditions deteriorate.

I tried doing things 100% manualy both on the camera and the flash. I plan on seeing if I can go back and try once before before the end of the week.

I was not interested in composition at all and it shows... it was all about the silhouette effect and a lit effect in a sunset and thats all that I tried to concentrate on. I failed this time, but I will get closer the next time.

Although you think you failed Jerry, I like the first one. You are so right though when you say that sunsets disappear so fast, before you know it they are gone.

They say we can only learn by pressing the shutter button and you have done that...and now you can figure out a different approach the next time you go...I think the first one is a great picture..love the silhouette with the sunset in the background..but you are correct..they go fast.

Jerry

I love the first one and I don't think you failed at all. This is a learning experience and I think you did a fine job. My favorite part is the expressions with I assume you and significant other. With practice on the sunsets, I think you'll get it. I only wish I could get sunsets like that.

Well sunsets need some work, but the Epcot shots came out a little better:

I love the 2nd shot Jerry, that's great. Perhaps on the first shot if a longer shutter speed had been used it may have removed some of the people from the pic? Just a thought unless you wanted them in the picture.

Nice shot on the third pic too.

Yes I wanted the people in the pic, to give a sense of being busy and somewhat crowded. Thats Disney for you, where the average day you see 40,000 people enter and exit! :)

The musicians at the Germany pavillion were in a VERY dark location and it was hard to get good shots. Anyone that has ever visited there before will know its a challenge, and I was happy with the results. The same could be said of the Mexican pavillion... its DARK in there!!

I have about 4 hours of video of the Epcot and Universal Studios that will be pared down enough to make a nice home video with the help of the pics.

Its all fun! Today was a rest day but we are going to a show for supper called Arabian Nights, one of the highest rated supper/show places in Florida. I am looking forward to that.
