It is an area I dearly love and it is beautiful. Sometimes I wish I lived there, but a visit now and again has to suffice. I don't like winter enough to deal with the amount of snow and cold they get up there. The all time LOW snowfall is 161"(406cm), all time high is 390"(991cm) which frankly is a bit much for my blood. It is called Copper Country because of the huge copper deposits that are still all over the area. It is rugged both in landscape and it's population. While being a rugged people, it is one of the friendliest areas you would ever want to visit. Warm, open, and fun-loving can describe most of the population in the area.
#1) Snow "thermometer" showing records and last winters snowfall (f:5.6; 1/500"; 70mm; handheld)
#2) One of my sons standing in front of the snow gauge for perspective it can be able to fathom how much 390" of snow really is (f: 4.5; 1/800"; 24mm, handheld)
#3) Sturgeon River (f: 11; 1/250"; 18mm; handheld)
#4) Jacobs Falls by Eagle River, MI (f:3.5; 1/200"; 28mm; handheld)
#5) Shoreline of Lake Superior. (f: 3.5; 1/125"; 28mm, handheld)
