    Russian Dolls

    Hi everyone,
This is my first attempt at a 'studio' picture.
Was a very basic set up playing with lights and stuff.

    I would welcome your opinions.

    Hi sverdloff,

I love your image. Nice sharp detail on your subject, like the rythym with the dolls and the shadows, and nice composition.
I have little or no studio/lighting experience, but personally would like to see a touch more light coming from the left side of the image also.

    Nicely done.

Very nice work here. I agree with Kaye about a bit more light from the left.

I like this very much. I'll disagree with the ladies, though. I like it as is.

I also like this as is. My only suggestion might be to try the light at different angles to get the shadow sloping different ways to just see what happens. Great composition of the dolls.

    Re: Russian Dolls

    Thanks for the feedback everyone.
I can see what you mean about the light from the left to illuminate the doll a little more.
The problem that i had was that it took some of the shadow away.

I found it challenging getting the light in the right place. My main aim was to get the shadows going in the same direction.

Anyway, i am glad you liked it.

    Re: Russian Dolls

Only my opinion............I believe that shadows make the light stand out. I mean that if this what you wanted to achieve, you did it. If you wanted a little more light from the left, a reflector on that side would have helped instead of another light. I personally was more interested in your DOF here, that's the first thing that caught my eye.........

    I like it
    the shadow are stricking
    the DOF is good
playing with the light source would give you a diff pic
and could be worth exploring but
this pic is good as well

Great image. Love the focus and composition, and I think the lighting you chose has great impact. Have you considered flipping the image horizontally, and comparing? I think it might have even greater
impact to see the shadows falling to the right.
