    Seagull Chicks

During a recent day trip with my wife, we learned that we were there during the peak of breeding season for seagulls. As we hiked along the trails, we saw hundreds of seagulls and their young everywhere we turned. I had never seen a seagull chick before and was quite delighted with our good fortune, if you don't include all the extra bird poop in that equation. I came across a couple of nests that were briefly unattended and was able to get a few shots. Thanks for taking a look.

Thanks a lot, Joseph. The second shot is a single exposure HDR with a bit of an Orton Effect thrown in.

Cool shots Eddie, I like #1 with the focused egg and fluff chick cuddling up to it.

Wonderful shots, Eddie. I have never even thought about where seagulls lay their eggs, so this is so lovely and interesting to view.

They are all so amazing, but will go with #3 as my favorite for the magnificent detail in the shells.

Hi Shirley and thank you for sharing your thoughts on these. It was pretty cool to be that close to the nest.

Thanks so much, Kaye. Initially, my wife and I thought perhaps the chick was hatching right when we were there, so we waited about 15 minutes or so to see if there was going to be any movement. Would have loved to have been able to capture that.
