How is this photo for repitition/pattern?
I am also trying to use the maual mode on my camera and get away from the auto button. Any input, suggestions that would be great.

Leanne, the repetition is indeed there, but I think there is a little room for improvement.

- The bottom left side of the pic, the table is clipped out of the pic

- At the back of the pic, your last table is very close to the edge if not clipped too.

Also, feel free to play with angles, line up the camera's point of view so that the table's bottom brace looks horizontal, or shoot from the point of view that the table legs are all lined up and disappearing into the distance.

From the other side of that fence that is holding up the tables, that is also another possibility.

One of the first things photographers get into the habit of doing is looking at a scene before taking the picture and visualizing all the angles and possibilities, then making what they see in their mind's eye come true.

I agree with what Jerry says here about the angles. Something a little more interesting may have been to point your camera through the first table, between the bottom of the tabletop, and the top of the bench. You get a tunnel affect and still see all the other tables with that angle.

We don't always agree on cropping. I don't mind if part of the subject is clipped out as long as it doesn't take away from the overall capture, and things remain balanced. Cropping out a little of the table doesn't seem to take away from the overall composition, and it looks well balanced to me. The top right part of the first table is right on the edge of the frame. This I try never to to. Crop out some of the table, or leave some room there. When you have the subject right at the edge I think it looks a little off.

Good point.

Another reason I always leave some room around the picture is becuase if one day, I want to put something in a frame, it would cut into the composition.

While on a photo of this type it matters less, but if you are taking a picture of someone special and work hard to get the perfect composition, and it comes out great... there is something disappointing when you take that perfect photo, put it in a frame and an elbow, top of the head or toes are chopped off becuase the edges are too close.

It is easy to compose and leave some "breathing room" around your compositions and crop those if you are displaying on the web, but if you crop too tight in camera, you cannot add to the composition later.
