Question Just a question on the POTM

Has anyone else noticed that almost everyone has gotten low ratings on this months POTM i think all but 2 are 3 stars or less. I think there is alot of great photos in there just wondering why everyone thought they were so bad so to speak compared to other months where there were alot of higher ratings. Not trying to start drama or anything Just curious is all. Let me know what you all think of the photos in there. By the way the ones with 4 stars are well deserved they are great photos but some others are too.

Re: Just a question on the POTM

Well remember that photography is art and subjective. So what is obviously good to one might not be so obvious to someone else. I think the subject for Jan was a tougher one than we've seen before, and it reflected on the photos. How many of us have that many pictures that can have a theme of food, as compared to this months theme?

I personally think a scouring system of 1-10 would be better than 1-5. For instance, there is too big of a jump between “good” and “excellent”. There’s too big a jump between “bad” and “average”. With scoring of 1-10, you can think of it as having ½ points. A picture might be better than “good” but not quite “excellent" in someone’s mind. And also, I think most of us are more use to a 1-10 scouring system. I also don’t like the terms “Bad” and Terrible” as a way to score a members photo. I just don’t think that’s necessary and could be why scores aren't as low as they should be in some cases.

I don't have a problem with the lower scores because the hightest of the lower scores will still win. As long as the one giving the scores is consistant in thier scoring, weather they tend to score higher or lower overall, it will give the same overall result.
