    Turtle Family

This isn't the greatest shot...should have used a tripod and a much better lens. I've not been real happy with this lens in a long time. I hit it on the ground once and it seems like it hasn't focused good since but it could just be me.

Focusing aside, I like it. It has a comedic value to it, with all the turtles playing follow my leader! You did right to put it into a panoramic format.

    Re: Turtle Family

Thanks, Jon...considering it was the first time my husband had used a camera, let alone my dslr, I guess it could have been worse. The first one was...lol...had to tell him it's like shooting his gun, you 'squeeze' the trigger, not click it...

We were driving down the road about 20mph and I just happened to see something on the log in the water. They were about 50 to 60 feet away from the road. He couldn't believe I even seen them but I didn't know how many there were until I got them uploaded on the computer when we got home. Did not know anything about the baby one till then and we thought there were just 4 of them. But, I never looked through the lens and he's half blind... The reason he took it was because I was afraid they would leave by the time we turned the truck around so I could shoot them from my side. I'm on crutches (for another 4 weeks, ugh) and standing on them and steadying a camera is next to impossible.
I thought the pano was a good idea too. Showcased them a bit better that way.

I found the turtle picture! I love it. Your husband didn't do too badly. He must have had a good teacher!

Great composition! Nothing like being in the right place at the right time.

    Again... great shot.

    I likey!
The scene of the shot looks nice and tranquil.
I like the reflections of the turtles from the water.
    Very serene to me.

I don't know about that, Jeannie, but it was nice to see him get excited about photography. Usually he doesn't understand why I want to spend the day out taking pictures. But this great capture at the end of the day excited him. I just wish I'd had a better lens or the tripod. Course, by the time we set up the tripod, they would have been long gone.

Yep, this is exactly why I love photography...being at the right place at exactly the right time. Makes me want to go right back out! Hopefully, I can get out a couple times this week. Thanks, Doug.

Thank you...it would have been better had the water been a bit calmer but we can't always make our images perfect every time. Some times, you just have to work with what you get. I was just glad that the light was pretty good. But, after this image, I've been scoping out the prices of the new 70-300 G lens...its on my "Got to have" list!

Mary - I like this shot. When my hubby want to use the camera he says "just make sure it's on the green button".

I switched this to landscape for him...had to show him where the shutter button was.......I've always been the one behind the camera and he was the one telling me to put it away! I might have to start packing my a100 in the bag when we go out....don't want him getting used to using the a700...

    Thanks, Debbie!

Mary - I have nothing to worry about. Hubby has to take pictures for his job (he's not a pro) and would rather leave the picture taking to me.
