i'm looking for some input from those who have been taking the course offered on this site. i've never taken any professional courses, but have (in mine and others' opinion) a natural talent, or as other put it, a 'good eye'. i have an interest in studio photography & wondered if this course would be capable of preparing me for that particular area. your comments are greatly appreciated! thank you!

Even as a pro photographer I find that taking courses that go over the basics every so often reminds me of things I have forgotten, reinforces the things I already know, and always teaches me something new or I see it differently. Also I find that even tho I am an Equine Photog, taking courses and shooting different styles really helps me develop new techs and styling to my Equine photos.

It is nice to get things explained to you in a simple format. I have been trying to learn about this stuff on my own, and even though I've picked up a lot, I've also wasted a lot of time searching for the information in a clear, easy to understand format. I'm just starting lesson 3 here, and I like the way the material is written, you can do it at your own pace, go back and review the information whenever you'd like. I'd say give it a shot.

I have recently started the course and I am really enjoying it. It seems to be very well written, and although there seems to be a lot to take in, it can all be done at your own pace and like others have said, you can review what you have done at any time.

I was a little sceptical about taking the course but I am really pleased I have taken it and even though I am only on the 3rd chapter, I have already learned some new things.

It's worth taking just to remind yourself of the basics and who knows you may learn something new along the way

I have started the course and like snappers above, am on the 3rd chapter. I am finding the course very good, it takes you through the subjects in a steady and easy style and i have so far had good constuctive citicism from my tutor.

I have found that half my problem is what to take a photo of in the first place. The chapters give you an assigment of a specific thing, be it moving traffic, landscape etc, thus taking that decision off you. By doing this, you then learn how to take that particular shot by using the correct settings. For example, chapter 3 is about Shutter Speed and the assignment is adjust only the shutter speed to get specific shots.
Also when I first got my camera, I wanted to take great shots immediatetly and subsequently went to manual mode and blindly set things up and ultimatelty producing poor shots. The course takes you through a bit at a time, so by the end of the course you will know how each setting works and how it affects the shot.

Once each chapter is mastered you move on to the next part of the camera, aperture and so on. Each Chapter gives you something specific to focus on.
