Tripod!

I need help buying a tripod that can take the weight of a zoom lens with my DSLR camera. I am new to photography and have already wasted money on a cheap tripod. Any help would be much appreciated!

Thank you, Matt Sr! I'm still looking around and need to take a trip to the camera store so I can actually play around with one before purchasing. Can't wait for the weather to get warm so I can take my camera and tripod out!
