    Sunrise in the mountains

    HI,
Working on figuring out the hdr and what I like and don't like!!

I have messed with this one shot in particular for the last 3 days now and have come up with different variations of hdr for it and I don't 'love' any one variation but like parts of each...

Im going to post just the one of the original shots I used-the middle exposed shot- and then 3 variations of it and would absolutely love to know what you think of each- what you like about each variation and don't like.

About this shot- it was in the morning and very foggy, not too bright out. When I had walked around and looked at the sun coming up through those trees, that is what I had wanted to catch, but now after looking at it for days Im not so sure I like the composition, but have tried cropping it different ways and that just doesn't look right, like the picture ends abruptly.

(my kids had started back to school a few weeks ago, and with helping my son with his homework haven't had a lot of time to jump in here and comment - so sorry about that!!)

    Re: Sunrise in the mountains

    Hi MJ,
I am also new to HDR and don't know much at all.... but I do like the composition of your shot.

Are you using Photomatix? There are so many settings that you can play with and alter. There is also a quick tutorial on Photomatix which you can read... although you may have already read this.

I have only tried HDR a few times, and my first time worked the best!!
My first time, I did do some final editing in PS after saving my image from Photomatix.

Perhaps Joseph or some other members may be able to advise you more.

Just a hint that I have found - When you have worked on a shot for a couple of days, I find it starts to look bad, and you find many faults.
Leave it for a day or so, and when you come back, you seem to know exactly what it needs.

Sorry I cannot offer much technical advice on this MJ.
