    Car Thieves

    Car Thieves Strike Again:
The wonderful and peaceful rural lifestyle gets a rude invasion from senseless car thieves.
The following are photos that I took after discovering another burnt out car left next to our local park.It is bad enough when these senseless people simply steal a car, but to try avoid getting caught by fingerprints being lifted they have to burn the cars out. Every couple months lately it seems another car or two get burnt out at our local park. I would love to be safely hidden and able to capture these people in the act so that there is a 100% proof of who they are and able to ring the police while they are in the act.

A good photo will steal my heart every time....

You'd be amazed at how much forensic info they can pull from a burnt car.

BTW, it is a good thing that they are doing it every couple of months... it makes them easier to catch.

Normally the people associated with car theft are not all that intelligent. Sometimes innovative, but not all that smart. Trust me, they *will* get caught, it's just a matter of time.

Thank you Jerry for taking the time to comment. I know they can still recover evidence I have known someone that burnt out a car and got done for it because they managed to lift a print . But a vast majority of them think that if they burn the car they won't get caught and it is why they do it.

Ok Craig I sat and looked at your picture for a little while I could not get around the fact we just in the last month or so had our car stolen and found and recovered
so to comment on the picture
I would say the 2nd one would look better I can see that in the local paper. Just make it black and white first : )

Hi Sandra, certainly glad you were of the lucky ones to get your car back. I know that whenever I hear of a car gone missing around my area I try let the person know places to look where have found cars dumped over the years. I've submitted a bw version to our local newsletter today and will wait and see if the use it.
    Cheers Craig

    Re: Car Thieves

Only 12.6 percent of thefts were cleared by arrests in 2006.

Top 10 States for Auto Theft
    1 California 242,693
    2 Texas 95,429
    3 Florida 76,437
    4 Arizona 54,849
    5 Michigan 50,017
    6 Washington 45,899
    7 Georgia 43,163
    8 Illinois 37,641
    9 Ohio 37,425
    10 New York 32,134

Chances are small of getting a arrest. Most of the cars are never recovered and the burnt out ones are a minority, mostly organised crime...
I use Canon & Nikon gear. Remember the Camera is only a tool that lets you capture the light, it is blind with out us to see. Always use the best gear you can afford and make the lenses good ones
and remember what lies before us and what lies behind us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.

That looks like Pine Rivers Park!! It must have been a hot fire, it looks like it has melted the ashpalt. Well captured images of an aweful scene Craig. We just had our house broken into a couple of months ago, it makes you feel sick when you know someone has invaded your privacy and taken your possessions. Nearly all of my stuff got replaced on insurance - except all the photographs on my computer and external hard drive

That is very sad news that, While most items can be replaced photos are one thing that can't be replaced. In 1981 we had a house burn down and it was the biggest thing that hit home was the photos, old school photos and parents photos that they could never replace a history recorded completely gone.I can completely understand how that must really hurt and feel for you.
