    Thamrin,Jakarta, at night

    Hi Everyone!

I've been doing shots for my final assignment, these are 8 pictures of the city at night. They're taken at Thamrin street, the busiest street in Jakarta, Indonesia.
I used 18-55mm lens, a polarizer filter, and a tripod. Most of them were at f8/4s-15s/WB white fluorescent light,ISO 100.

    C&C are appreciated.
Thank you for taking a look.

These are the rest of the pictures.
As you can see, I have a problem of taking pictures of the fountain, since the lights surround it were too bright.
I tried to reduce the brightness by adjusting the level, but that's the best I could do.

    Hi Tenny,

    Nice shots.

I am no expert, but you may consider trying a greater ISO and f/ratio values and shortening the exposure time to keep from being over exposed with the fountain shots.

I like the one with the headlights zooming through it.

Thank you Johnbiondo for your kind comment and for the tips. I will consider it the next time I do a city at night shots. I still have a lot of time to complete the assignment. I'm not sure if those pictures are good enough either.
I did take the fountain at f22/ISO 100 and higher ISO(400). Yes the lights were better, but the pictures were too dark. I think I set the wrong speed, it was supposed to be a little bit faster (sometimes I forgot all the lectures when shooting)

Really great night shots Tenny. I love No. 1 in the first and No. 2 & 4 in the second series.

Hi Tenny these are nice shots but I would suggest you try a faster shutter speed. Also try for just after sunset so you get a bit of colour in the sky. You then don't get such a harsh contrast between black sky & bright lights. I hope this helps a bit but keep practising you will get there. I love low light photography, everything looks so different.

Thanks for your nice comment and suggestions Shirley, I will try a faster shutter speed next time. I just forgot about the night exposure's table in the lesson 9 I should've done the shots based on that.

I was thinking of taking the pictures just after sunset too. However, those busy street area has a 3 in 1 rule at that time (in the morning and one hour before and after sunset/peak hours), that means there has to be at least 3 persons in a car. I was only with my cousin at that time, so we have to wait until the 3 in 1 time was over to enter the area.
I live in the suburb, the traffic is always unpredictable. It needs at least one and a half hours by car to get to the center of the city. I was thinking of coming earlier, too bad I couldn't make it.
Yes, I do still need practice and practice

Lovely night shots, 3 is my favourite, no suggestions from me as I am trying to get good shots for my final assignment as well.
