    Question External hard drive??

Im looking to take an external hard drive with me when i travel. Is there a company that anyone recommends or one to stay away from? I know this may come down to personal preference but I want a small one (travel) thats pretty good quality. In scott kelby"s book he uses a owc on the go hard drive but in all my internet research not one person mentioned this company or these drives. Are they good ( I mean a pro is using them lol ) ? Again small and lightweight are my main concerns. I was reading a lot of good reviews on the "clickfree". Any help will ...well ... help lol

    Hey freeze,

Not sure what type of hard drive you are looking for, but I have used Seagate external drives and I have had good success with them. I have also heard that Western Digital does a nice job and they are a little less expensive, but I have not personally used their products. Good luck.

We use Western Digital for all our external drives and have had no problems.

Western Digital. Just don't go for the bottom of the barrel in price, no matter what brand.

I have Western Digital. Did originally get Seagate, but it was faulty! (I think this was just bad luck).

    Hi Freeze

Sorry don't know your real name!

I have a few of these, I have had no problems so far. I travel a lot and have one for movies (for the laptop, hotel nights) and one for all my photo back up. I have 500mb size but they come in various sizes. Very small and portable and need no external power supply, just USB to your computer and you have another hard drive.
In Canada 500mb go for about $100, maybe less in walmart.

I store my photo's on my computer hard drive and the portable plus the camera card (I leave the card to fill up before I wipe them).

    Hope this helps.

    Re: External hard drive??

There are not much difference in the sizes of portable hard drives unless of course if you get those desktop ones with their own docks. Any hard drive with a 2.5" specification would do. I suggest that you look at the transfer rates so that you could have one that will make your process faster.

There are a lot of options and a lot of designs to choose from. I have a western digital hard drive and I am pretty satisfied with it, though there is not much to compare about it against others.
