WOW Andy, fantastic shots and beautiful detail. You are doing so much nice work with this macro lens.
I prefer #1 for it's detail and exposure. My only suggestion here would be to desaturate the "greens"/background a little. I think it would make your butterfly stand out even more.

Love the composition in the second shot, Andy. it opens up the frame and allows me to wonder what the butterfly is looking at or perhaps waiting for. I agree with Kaye's suggestion on the desaturated greens, maybe a bit moreso in the first shot - the second shot looks pretty good to me.

Thanks for looking and the comments, the 105 is a cracking lens Kaye, these were taken with the 70-300 though, this is another fine piece of work from Nikon.
I will have a go at desaturating the greens; thanks for the suggestion.
