    Slug ... following Jon's Snail

Not the most beautiful of subjects to shoot, but this was one of my first nights with my D90. Lens Nikon 18-105mm.

    f/5.3, 1/200sec, isoL0.3 = 100, 66mm, Flash, No tripod.
Small amount of Photoshop, but big crop.

Kaye, I think your subject is beautiful and you have captured him well. Did you use the built in flash?

Re: Slug ... following Jon's Snail

Thanks very much Marianne for your kind comment. I was a little surprised myself as I had only had the camera a few days and was just trying night shots, light, WB, and my flash, and still learning settings at this stage. (I did get some really bad shots this night too)!
Yes, it was built in flash that I used. I have nothing else.
Thank you so much for looking.

Wow, great capture - love the textures and the.... oh yeah, the slime It is interesting to see a slug up close, as normally we just ignore them or sprinkle slug pellets down.

Re: Slug ... following Jon's Snail

I really appreciate your comment thanks Jon. This slug made himself prominent at an outdoor party, "slithering" along the garden ledge. Just had to give it a try.
This is when I wish I had a macro lens, as by cropping, I am losing lots of detail.

My crop of this shot is only about 1/6th or 1/8th of my original.
