Such a beautiful shot! Hope to be that good someday.
Marianne
Hi Marianne, Thank you for your very kind comments on this one.
“Hope to be that good someday” Marianne you already are, make someday…today.
Once you get the basics under your belt a lot of it is about taking the time to think about how you’re going to achieve a particular shot.
I have often see people, even after some training, just pick up a camera and start shooting like something out of a gun fight at the ok corral… In their keenness to take pictures; the thought process seems to go away from them. And they wonder why there photos don’t look good.
It becomes like a discipline, you start to pick things up, and parts of it end up becoming like second nature.
The more you do, the more you start to learn your camera settings in a more in-depth way.
You also become more familiar with how to read what is going on outside the camera for a given situation.
All these things being brought together begin to install that much needed confidence and belief that you can achieve a particular photograph. This seems to be the part you never stop learning, as every situation always seems different and unique…so you are always learning something you didn’t know. And it is that Marianne, that keeps the fun, and the frustration of this fascinating subject called photography, flowing nicely within us all…beginner, amateur and the pro’s alike.
Thanks Marianne
Mark

Thanks so much for taking the time to write the inspirational things here. You are so right about learning every day and being aware of your environment. I feel like everywhere I go, there is a photo waiting to be taken. Whether it is a flower, an insect, a building , an old man on a bench, a bus, whatever, I see things in a new way now that I am taking this course. You are so kind to say I am already good. Let me rephrase my earlier comment: I am working hard to be able to someday produce such a beautiful shot as yours is here. Thanks so much!
Marianne
Mark,
A phenomenal image. The light, detail, and color all work together to create a striking composition that draws the eye right in.
Stunning.

Hi Mark I love this photo, everything is in harmony. Beautiful composition with amazing lighting. Love the translucence of both the caterpillar and flower. .

Hi Sandy and thank you very much for taking the time to comment on this one.
I always appreciate your kind words. This one was about playing with light to give a specific look and I am still refining that look for future shots.
Thanks Sandy
