Wild flower using mirror lock up

I ventured into the back yard last evening with tripod in hand and camera set to mirror lock up. I am pretty happy with how the shot turned out. I don't have a remote so I couldn't utilize this option 100% but it is more clearer than the others of the same flower I took.

    John,

This is GREAT!!!! A beautiful shot!!
I recently got a remote shutter release and have used it a lot this week. I highly reccommend getting one. If you can't get one locally check the net.

Hi MJ and thanks for your comment and looking. I didn't use the timer on this one which would have beneficial to reduce a bit more shake.

    Thanks again

Thanks for looking Kaye and the nice comment. I think this action on you Nikon is a one touch button on the back of the camera.

Re: Wild flower using mirror lock up

    If your interested Kaye.

It's called "Exposure Delay Mode", Custom Setting d10, on page 183 of the manual.
It's virtually the same thing as the self-timer firing off after 1 second, though only 2, 5, 10 and 20 sec. can actually be selected for the self-timer.
You should give it a try with your macro lens

Re: Wild flower using mirror lock up

    John,
Thanks very much for all this info. I have checked it out in the manual, but don't think the button is on the back of the D90, but I could be wrong
I will check this out some more. I did buy a remote shutter release a few weeks ago, so I guess thats a start.
