SPHERICAL PANORAMAS link

Hi all,

I found this quite amazing, and am not sure how this works. Someone sent this to me via email. I think it is worth a look on the link below:

Re: SPHERICAL PANORAMAS link

Hi Kaye

Thanks for sharing this - the pictures are awesome!!

They are taken with a 180 spherical fish eye lens. 3 images are taken and then using something like Easypano are stitched together.

I have one but took these last year and the results are very poor in comparison (lots of noise, exposure on each individual image isnt the same, and generally just not sharp enough)

I have a lot to learn and hopefully by the time I have finished this course I will be able to take 360's like the example you provided.

Here are a few others I took around London last October - exposure is still out.

Thanks for posting this Kaye. They are very cool indeed. I thought the bubbles were cool

Canasta, your 360's are cool as well.

Re: SPHERICAL PANORAMAS link

I've been looking more at this site...some great shots

in particular though this one look to be a little "doctored"
(and indeed it doesn't matter even if it is)
....but have you ever seen so many stars?

...and the Plough...I've never seen it stand out quite so much
in another of his shots Orion is centre frame
...methinks this tog has a sideline in astronomy.

Awesome shots though, with daylight...I'll be getting that lens out tomorrow and see if it fits my new camera

Re: SPHERICAL PANORAMAS link

Yes Doug, this is magnificent. I don't really mind if it has been doctored. (I think we all do this to certain degrees too)!!!

When you refer to the Plough, we do not hear of that here in Aussie - I must do a bit of research an update my astronomy knowledge. We have the "Southern Cross" in Australia, but perhaps some Northern Hemisphere-ites may not be familiar with this.
You are probably familiar with "Orion's Belt", which since I was a kid, always knew it by the name "the Saucepan", as it looks like a saucepan. ( I think many Australians are familiar with this name).

From the link you attached: "THE MILKY WAY" is really beautiful.
BTW, DO WE ALL CALL IT THE MILKY WAY.... ??

Smile Re: SPHERICAL PANORAMAS link

LOL
Yes it's the same one ...Big Dipper in USA and various other names elsewhere.

Wikipedia reckons its just the British Isles that calls it the Plough.

Yes we call it the Milky Way.
