Breathtaking! I'd love to know how you kept your camera and battery alive for so long in that cold!

Thank you, it’s great to have someone understand how tough it is to take this kind of shot in winter!
But winter shot are so incredible, that I don’t mind “maybe a bit” freezing for few hours!
I find the problem is the equipment, because I carry 2 cameras one d5 mark 11 and my small IR Rebel Xsi
a bunch of lenses, a 16-35, a 24-105 and a 70-200 with an 2X extension and a massive tripod walking on ice and in deep snow it is very physical, and the problem is to keep all the equipment out of the snow and cold. I have a waterproof camera bag that fit all my equipment plus an attachment for my tripod, I bring extra batteries for both cameras that I carry inside my winter coat to keep warm.
One thing I do to is to spot my location in advance, have an idea of what I want to accomplish and avoid staying in the cold for more than 4 hours.
When you cannot feel your hands and feet anymore it's time to go home!!!

Well done! It's so difficult to get a shot like this! And work the camera keys with big gloves...or frozen fingers! It's really hard! Where have you put the tripod? On the ice?? It's a great and hark work indeed!
